Kane Williamson’s Stunning Century Helps New Zealand Chase 305, Breaks Virat Kohli’s Record

New Zealand’s star batter and former captain Kane Williamson played a sensational knock on Monday (February 10), guiding his team to a 6-wicket win against South Africa in Lahore. Chasing 305 runs, Williamson remained unbeaten, scoring 133 off 113 balls, smashing 13 fours and 2 sixes at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Williamson Breaks Kohli’s Record

By hitting the winning runs in the 49th over, Williamson also made history. He became the second-fastest batter to reach 7,000 ODI runs, surpassing Virat Kohli’s record. The 34-year-old from Tauranga achieved this milestone in his 159th innings (167th match), while Kohli had taken 161 innings (169 matches) to reach the same mark.

However, the overall record still belongs to South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who reached 7,000 runs in just 150 innings.
